The night of 23rd to 24th June in Torremolinos has the smell of smoke, the sound of laughter and the colour of excitement. Students finish classes, the nights get longer and the good times are more after this festivity that opens the doors to summer, the sun and the beach.
Whether you want to welcome the summer enjoying the traditional bath at 12 midnight, or surrounded by the bonfires where you say goodbye to the bad memories of the year by writing them on a piece of paper and throwing it into the bonfire. In La Carihuela, friends and families gather around the bonfires and barbecues, which can also be found on all the beaches of Torremolinos.
In this area the Hermandad de la Virgen del Carmen, the brotherhood that honours the patron saint of sailors, takes centre stage. We recommend that you don’t miss the moraga held by the Brotherhood of the Virgen del Carmen in Torremolinos, which is usually located on the Playa del Remo beach, with a great live music concert by various groups such as, this year, Mr. Propper and Capitán Vinilo. There is also a bar service with tapas, espetos, drinks and a great atmosphere.
The concert gives way to the burning of the júas and, if you have never been to a júas burning, this consists of the burning of a doll that usually has a notorious symbolism, making a satire to some moment of the present. The burning of the júas starts at midnight and continues with shows until the early hours of the morning.
