Torremolinos is gearing up to welcome Christmas with 40 days of magical celebrations filled with joy for residents and visitors alike. From November 30th to January 7th, the city will transform into a true Christmas paradise, offering a variety of activities to enjoy as a couple, with family, friends, or solo.

A highly anticipated season not only for the little ones but also for those looking to enjoy the festivities in our privileged tourist environment with our endless summer on the Costa del Sol.

Spectacular Opening: Lights, Music, and Celebration

On November 30th, Torremolinos will kick off its magical Christmas with the opening of the Municipal Nativity Scene and the Crochet Christmas Tree at the Town Hall. This family-friendly event will feature musical performances by various Christmas choirs.

Although the official welcome to Christmas in Torremolinos will take place on December 1st with the lighting of the Christmas lights in Plaza Costa del Sol, led by the talented Diana Navarro carrying this year’s Christmas Star. She will later delight all attendees with a performance. An inaugural parade from Plaza San Miguel and performances by the Torremolinos Dance Center will precede this event, followed by a traditional Christmas singing event by María José Santiago on Avenida Palma de Mallorca and the opening of the Christmas Village in Plaza de la Nogalera, both available until January 7th.

Undoubtedly, a very comprehensive day where our entire city will shine to welcome Christmas in the best way possible.

Exhibitions, Concerts, and Traditions this Christmas in Torremolinos

Torremolinos has prepared a diverse cultural agenda to enjoy Christmas art in all its forms. A series of plans starting on December 2nd with the II Pastoral Encounter, including a parade to Plaza de San Miguel, and the performance of the group «Así Canta Jerez» from Cadiz at the Municipal Auditorium Príncipe de Asturias, who will also perform on December 15th in Plaza Federico García Lorca.

This cultural agenda includes activities such as the opening of the nativity scene exhibition on December 4th; the free concert by Manuel Lombo and «Grupo Mediterráneo» in Plaza Pablo Ruiz Picasso on December 5th; the blessing of the parish nativity scene at the Mother of Good Counsel Parish on December 7th; the play «Terra Mía» at the Municipal Auditorium Príncipe de Asturias on December 10th; the recital with biblical readings by the Female Chamber Choir «Voces del Sol» on December 14th at the Casa de Cultura; the Parish of San Miguel Arcángel will also celebrate the blessing of the parish nativity scene on December 17th after a mass; the students of the Municipal School of Music will be responsible for giving a concert at the Casa de la Cultura on December 19th, a vocal concert alongside the Municipal Nativity Scene on December 20th, and an instrumental concert at the Parish of Christ Resurrected on the 2nd.

On December 23rd, Christmas Eve’s eve, our city will be filled with rhythm with the «Dance Center» Flash Mob and the traditional Christmas singing by the «Callejón» group in Plaza San Miguel. On December 29th, the Municipal Auditorium Príncipe de Asturias will host the 1st Edition of the Winter Flamenco Festival «Special Christmas», featuring renowned artists from the music scene. The traditional New Year’s Eve party in the city will take place on December 31st in Plaza Costa del Sol starting at 2:00 pm.

The city will welcome the new year with a free concert by the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra on January 2nd at the Municipal Auditorium Príncipe de Asturias.

Countless Christmas Plans for Children in Torremolinos

Children are the main protagonists of Christmas in Torremolinos. That’s why our municipality has prepared a myriad of activities for them to enjoy these holidays with excitement and magic.

These special plans for the little ones start on November 30th with the «Christmas for Families» workshop, held at the Parish of Christ Resurrected on November 30th, December 1st, and 4th. They will culminate on January 5th with the long-awaited procession of the Three Wise Men, starting at Plaza Blas Infante at 5:00 pm, later touring the streets of our city. Their Majesties will disembark in our municipality a few days earlier, specifically on Wednesday, January 3rd, on the Carihuela beach.

But before that day, they will have the opportunity to visit Santa Claus’s Village from December 1st to 23rd in Plaza de la Nogalera and, in the same place, deliver their letter to the Three Wise Men to the Royal Mailman from December 26th to January 4th.

On December 9th, the Batería Park will host a Christmas educational concert, ‘The Nutcracker,’ by Ara Vartanian. Later, on December 13th, the Municipal Auditorium Príncipe de Asturias will be the stage for the traditional Christmas carol gathering of the city’s schools.

 

On the weekend of December 15th to 17th, the children of Torremolinos can participate in various activities. On Friday, the 15th, the «Star Planters» event, organized by the Parishes of Torremolinos, will take place. On the same day, in the Children’s Room of the Pablo Ruiz Picasso Library, there will be a children’s crafts workshop. The next day, in the same place but in the auditorium, «Christmas Tales of the Magical Elf,» a free activity for the whole family, will take place. On Friday, the 29th, the little ones can also attend a Christmas workshop organized by the Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Rocío of Torremolinos and the Brotherhood of Seafarers of Our Lady of Carmen of La Carihuela.

Continuing with the municipality’s goal of becoming an increasingly inclusive city, the Christmas Park installed at the Torremolinos Fairground from December 22nd to January 7th will have special hours (6:00 pm to 7:00 pm) with adapted sound and lighting so that children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), functional diversity, or any other sensitivity can enjoy. Also, accreditations will be provided to these families to avoid queues and provide ear protection.

Christmas for Everyone

The activities will extend to all audiences, with Christmas snacks for the elderly from December 11th to 15th, a living nativity scene on December 16th at the Molino de Inca, and the charitable Toy Run by Komando Amimoto in Plaza Federico García Lorca.

Likewise, the parishes of Torremolinos will offer a series of parish concerts and Christmas activities from December 16th to January 6th.

The younger ones can also enjoy a variety of plans this Christmas in Torremolinos, such as the K-POP masterclass by DFLOW Studios on December 26th and 28th in Plaza Costa del Sol; a gastronomy workshop at the Pablo Ruiz Picasso Cultural Center on December 27th and January 3rd. Additionally, the cultural center will also organize, along with La Máquina Imaginaria, 3 days of board games (January 2nd, 3rd, and 4th), featuring over 500 games, raffles, and prizes.

Gastronomic Plans this Christmas in Torremolinos

Gastronomy enthusiasts have a mandatory date this Christmas in Torremolinos. In addition to Christmas snacks with Christmas choirs in senior centers and the hot chocolate event on December 15th organized by the Parishes of Torremolinos, the Active Participation Centers of Torremolinos will organize doughnut events on December 19th, 21st, and 22nd.

Moreover, they can enjoy the Three Kings’ Roscón Route from December 22nd to January 5th in some of the most representative pastry shops in Torremolinos, turning this experience into a true tourist and gastronomic attraction.

Active Christmas in Torremolinos

The Sports Department has prepared a variety of activities to promote healthy holidays, such as the Christmas paddle tournament from December 11th to 17th; the 32nd Christmas Judo Trophy, the 26th José Campos Memorial, and Christmas Skating Day on December 16th; the Indoor Triathlon ‘City of Torremolinos’ and the 39th Christmas Karate Trophy on December 17th. All registered participants in these sports activities will be able to enjoy a fantastic Christmas breakfast on December 22nd at the fairground.

Basketball enthusiasts will also have a day dedicated to their favorite sport with the Christmas 3×3 Basketball Tournament in Plaza Blas Infante. With live music, shows, and raffles, it will be a day full of action and fun for the whole family.

For the younger ones, the Sports Department has prepared a day full of challenges and fun with a Christmas treasure hunt in the city center on December 30th.

To bid farewell to the year with energy, sports enthusiasts can participate in the VI San Silvestre Race. A sports tradition that brings the community together in a festive atmosphere.
