Discover the chiringuitos ( beach bars ) of Torremolinos, tradition and modernity on the beach

The best beach bars in Torremolinos

When we talk about the summer in Torremolinos, we are talking about the beach bars, mandatory stops to enjoy a perfect moment by the sea. And in our city there are all kinds of them, combining tradition and modernity on the beach.

Torremolinos stands out for its great gastronomic offer and in the beach bars you will find a multitude of flavors, although the smell of delicious salted sardines, a skewer of sardines grilled on one of the traditional boats that you find next to all those beach bars offering fish and typical Mediterranean dishes. On our interactive map, you can see which establishments are focused on these earthly flavors and we assure you that if you leave without stepping into any of them, you will miss something of your vacation.

The art of skewering sardines: a Malaga tradition

If, while walking along the beaches of Torremolinos, you get a soft smell of sardines roasting in the heat of the embers, you are facing one of the gastronomic traditions of our city and the province of Malaga.

Fish skewers are an art and a special way of cooking fish, especially sardines. It consists of roasting the fish by sticking it in a rod on the edge of the embers. It is a technique that continues to be done throughout the Malaga coast and that adds a flavor to the fish that makes everyone who tastes it fall in love with it.

Beach bars with a lot of tradition and history

In Torremolinos you will find some of the most emblematic beach bars on the Costa del Sol. Many of them have developed their gastronomic proposal or have specialized in a particular dish, but we are sure that in the more than 60 establishments on the seafront you will find a varied offer and ideal for your holiday.

There are those who are more specialized in skewers, so typical of our region, and in fried fish, also typical and so rich, or in seafood and various rice dishes and why not, in meat too. These specialties can be found in beach bars and restaurants with years of experience and tradition, such as Los Manueles, La Jábega, Andrés y Mary, La Coquina, La Mar Bonita, El Canarias, Los Leones, El Sardiná, El Espeto, La Moraga, José Cerdán, El Velero, Pepe and Carmen, and many more that you can find by clicking on our geolocation map.

Beach bars that are references in gluten-free food, such as Los Bandoleros and others that are part of the history of Torremolinos, such as Casa Antonio who have been surprising us with their gastronomic and leisure offer since 1952 and like the Miguel Cerdán Restaurant, considered one of the first chiringuitos in our city, which began its journey in 1941. Quite well-known, they say, were their private parties where flamenco and copla figures such as Camarón or El Cigala passed

More modern establishments with a different atmosphere

But the offering in Torremolinos goes further, with beach bars offering you other flavors, such as La Fragata de Tito and the Pizza Mare Torremolinos Restaurant, where you can enjoy the best Italian cuisine facing the sea. And restaurants that let you experience new sensations, produced by the mixture of elements, which are symbols of the new culinary trends and that are more than beach bars, I would say, are beach clubs such as the Horno Beach Club, Santo Pitote or night classics such as La Playa Surf House and La Palapa Beach Jazba.  Some of them, on weekends, offer live music.

Special mention should be made of the Edén Beach Club by Ritual, a cool beach bar very involved with the LGTBI movement in Torremolinos, and the Playa Miguel Beach Club, which has evolved over the years on the beach at La Carihuela. And it is that Miguel Sierra, its founder, is a living history of Torremolinos, with humble beginnings, selling soft drinks until he opened his own business in the 70s. Now the Playa Miguel is one of the prominent beach clubs on the Torremolinos coast.

Chiringuitos: much more than a good lunch or dinner

Our beach bars are places where the concept of going out for lunch or dinner is overcome to try to contribute much more to visitors. The Balinese beds that accompany hammocks in many cases, the carefully prepared cocktails and in the case of beach clubs, the most special themed parties accompany establishments whose offer goes beyond what you normally find on the coast. This is the case of those where in addition to having lunch or dinner with friends and family afterwards you can extend the evening with a good cocktail, which is so appetizing when you are on vacation.

Beach bars with certified quality

We take our gastronomy so seriously in Torremolinos and our hoteliers work every day with such enthusiasm to provide the best of themselves, that the owners of 30 beach bars have worked for a few months to achieve the ‘Q’ for quality, a mark that confirms the rigor with which the establishments of our city work.

With the Q for quality, our visitors will have a greater guarantee that when they come to a chiringuito, distinguished with the Q, they will find detailed information, a quality product, perfect hygienic facilities and conditions and an experience that will make you be part of. We try to know your opinion in order to grow with you.

This certification is added to the one already obtained by our beaches of La Carihuela, El Bajondillo, Playamar and Los Álamos (with Blue Flag), distinguished for the second consecutive year for their equipment and services but also for the quality of their waters and cleanliness of the sand.

If you come to Torremolinos you must come to our beach bars and enjoy a good meal by the sea, a cocktail in the tranquility of your hammock while you sunbathe, the best parties in the beach clubs of the moment and the stories provided by people and establishments that are protagonists of the tourist growth of our city.
