The current karate’s Olympic runner-up in the kata modality, Damián Quintero from Torremolinos, promotes the Karate Beach Training to be held from September 2 to 4, an event that offers the opportunity to practice karate in a privileged environment such as the coast of the town, an initiative without distinction of level open to children and adults, a mix between the amateur and the professional. A perfect combination for a few days of sport, fun and relaxation.
The Karate Beach Training, which has the collaboration of the Torremolinos Town Hall, will have a luxury line-up headed by the local athlete Damián Quintero, recently awarded European runner-up in Turkey, who will convey all his knowledge about kata together with the Italian Luca Valdesi who has a long history full of international titles and who is a benchmark for his level of perfection in performing katas.
The kumite modality will also have top-level coaches. Iván Leal, current absolute national coach of this modality will be present in Torremolinos together with Matías Gómez, national cadet coach. In addition, the Karate Beach Training will be attended by María Torres, from Malaga, who recently won the bronze for teams in kumite at the European Championships in Turkey.
In a bid to move the major sporting events to various areas of the municipality, the event will take place in the Playamar area, next to the chiringuito Casa Paco.
The Karate Beach Training will have seven training sessions, three kata sessions and three kumite sessions, on Friday 2nd in the afternoon, Saturday 3rd in the morning and afternoon and Sunday 4th September in the morning session.
The celebration of this event is part of the firm commitment by the Torremolinos Town Hall to promote sports tourism, a sector in which the town wants to be a benchmark, having all the necessary ingredients to achieve it. Good weather, a wide variety of hotels, proximity to Málaga airport and first class facilities make Torremolinos a paradise for sports tourism.
